Loan Repayment Calculator

Before you take out a car loan or personal loan, you want to know what it really costs. Multiply the loan amount by the yearly interest rate and the number of years to get the total interest, add it to the loan, and divide by the number of months to see your monthly payment. This example uses simple (flat) interest; bank loans that amortise can differ slightly.

1How it is calculated

  1. Calculator A (Loan amount): the money you borrow, for example €15,000.
  2. Calculator B (Interest rate): the yearly interest rate, for example 5%.
  3. Calculator C (Loan term in years): how long you repay, for example 5 years.
  4. Calculator D (Total interest): A × B% × C = €3,750.
  5. Calculator E (Total to repay): A + D = €18,750.
  6. Calculator F (Total months): C × 12 = 60 monthly payments.
  7. Calculator G (Monthly payment): E ÷ F = €312.50 per month.
